About Jessica Carney

Hi! I’m Jessica Carney, a writer based in the Midwest. I’ve written for Startrek.comThe Today Show, Livability, and more. I also worked as an event planner for 15 years, and I’m querying a book about all the chaos, mishaps, and times plans went awry. A little taster of the chaos can be found in this essay:

A Bucket Full of Knives and Other Tales from Working in the Concert Industry
“He pointed at me, and I know he wanted me to come up on stage,” said an attractive, drunk, 30ish-year-old woman at Nelly’s concert.

About Funny Little Stories

I started this newsletter so I can write about funny little moments. When you write for publications, you often have to pretend you have advice for readers, and I just don’t have that much! I do recommend not eating Midwest potluck food that’s been sitting out for six hours, something I’ve witnessed many times.

I prefer to write humorous observations with no actionable takeaways whatsoever, so that’s what you’ll find here. I hope you’ll enjoy my disjointed stories about life in the Midwest, working as an event planner, being a geriatric millennial, trying to be a marginally successful writer, and more.
